Operational Resilience Metrics for Aerospace Manufacturers

Quantitative indicators for measuring resilience against disruption across primes and sub-tier suppliers.

From resilience as adjective to resilience as measurement

Resilience is widely discussed but rarely measured in a way that supports investment decisions. This article proposes a compact metric set that combines exposure, recovery and adaptation indicators.

The metric set

Core metrics include single-source exposure, geographic concentration, qualified-alternate coverage, mean-time-to-substitute and post-disruption performance recovery. Each metric includes a definition, data sources and reference benchmarks observed across aerospace primes.

Using the metrics in practice

We outline a quarterly review pattern, escalation thresholds and integration points with existing risk registers so that resilience signals reach decision-makers in time to act.
